Our story

Bar Ober Radio is an online broadcasting station operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from Ugenya, a constituency in Siaya County, Kenya. We were founded on a simple belief: that every community deserves a voice, and that voice should be heard loud and clear — at home, at work, and across the world.

Our tagline, "The Voice of Ugenya," reflects who we are and who we serve. We broadcast in the languages and rhythms of our community, mixing local news and politics with the music our listeners love — rhumba, reggae, benga and gospel — alongside inspirational and religious programming.

What we broadcast

Our programming is built around the daily life of Ugenya. Mornings start with Barober Breakfast — news, politics and the conversations shaping the day. Through the day we keep you company with non-stop music, freestyle talk and listener interaction, and we bring you home with Barober Drive.

Weekends have their own flavour: Sabato Maler on Saturday mornings, sports coverage, dedicated rhumba and reggae blocks, Sunday gospel and benga. We never go off air — when a live show ends, the music keeps playing.

Our mission

Outdoor interview with an elderly community member

To inform, entertain and uplift the people of Ugenya and Siaya County — and to connect our community with listeners everywhere through free, accessible online radio. We give local voices a platform, local businesses a way to reach their neighbours, and local talent a stage.

Where we reach

Because we stream online, Bar Ober Radio reaches anyone with a phone, tablet or computer — across Kenya and around the world. Whether you're in Ugunja, Siaya town, Nairobi, or the diaspora, you're always one tap away from home.
