County officials say contractors have been given a deadline to complete key rural roads before the rains.

Siaya County government has put contractors on notice over delays in repairing key feeder roads across Ugenya and neighbouring wards.

The roads, which connect farming communities to markets in Ugunja and Siaya town, were washed away during the last rainy season, forcing residents to use longer, costlier routes.

County executives told Bar Ober Freestyle that work orders have been issued and grading equipment deployed to the worst-affected stretches.
